Meet the Team

Adv Dumisa Ntsebeza

Board chair

Adv Ntsebeza SC is an independent board appointee and board chair of the foundation. He has held numerous prominent leadership positions as an attorney, advocate and an activist for political and human rights, human dignity, and social justice in our country and beyond. Advocate Ntsebeza is a true embodiment of cream of the crop, and a son of the soil having been conferred the degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) (honoris causa) by the Rhodes University, amongst other things. Amongst his many achievements is his recent
appointment as a Judge in the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

Mandlakazi Madaka

Board Member

Ms Madaka is a related board appointee and daughter to Aunt Laura. She holds the following qualification
– Diploma in Management and Administration; Bachelors of Social Science (BSocSc); and
– Diploma in Project Management.

Ms Madaka has extensive experience as a Consultant in the fields of stakeholder relations, project coordination and management, and business development. Her experience spans over 20 years having worked for various institutions in the private sector and Government. In the last 2 years she has ventured into the publishing and editorial space and is currently working with an international author, amongst others.

Ayanda Raziya

Board Member

Ayanda is an independent board appointee. She holds the following qualifications:
– Masters in Business Administration (MBA);
– Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (PGDIp); and
– Bachelor of Economics.

Ayanda is an investment professional with skills in financial advisory, financial analysis, private and listed markets and product development. Her skills as a business development executive have been honed through her 15 years in financial services. She has extensive experience in capital raising and deal execution and being a key player in driving business growth.

Asanda Qangule

Board Member

Mr Qangule is an independent board appointee. He holds the following qualifications:
– Diploma in Human Resource Management; and
– Diploma in Theology.

Mr Qangule has extensive experience in the fields of human resources management, business development, corporate social investments and stakeholder management. His experience spans over 20 years having worked at:
– Old Mutual, Private Wealth;
– Lonroh Projects (SA);
– Singatha Afrika Management Service;
– Coega Development Corporation – Stakeholder Manager; and
– Cochrane Global.

Mandlakazi Sigcawu

Board Member

Mandlakazi is a related board appointee and granddaughter of Aunt Laura. She holds the following qualifications:

– Advanced Diploma in Public Relations and Communication Management; and
– Executive Development program from the Stellenbosch Business School.

Mandlakazi is an award-winning Corporate Affairs and Regulatory Affairs Executive with over 20 years’ experience. She is currently the Managing Director of Engage a Public Relations subsidiary of award-winning advertising agency Joe Public. Mandlakazi’s industry exposure includes Insurance, Tourism, FMCG and Automotive in the private sector, local government, and Parliament of the Republic of South Africa.

Mongezi Mpahlwa

Board Member

Mongezi is a related board appointee and grandson to Aunt Laura. He holds the following qualifications:
– Bachelors of Commerce in Law;
– Bachelors of Law;
– Certificate in Advanced Case Management; and
– International Commercial Arbitration Certificate.

Mongezi is a practising Attorney of the High Court of South Africa and a Director at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc. He is a seasoned commercial dispute resolution lawyer with over 10 years’ experience.
Mongezi has served in the Black Lawyers Association (BLA) as an executive member in various capacities including –
– National Treasurer;
– Provincial Treasurer, Western Cape; and
– Founding Chairperson, BLA Student Chapter
He was listed in the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans (2017 publication) in the Justice and Law section as one of the exceptional South Africans under 35 who “have stood out from the pack and who show us what to look forward to in the country’s future”
